How to Begin Services with Word Play
Starting therapy doesn’t have to be complicated. We’ll guide you through each step so you know exactly what to expect and what to do next.

Call our office to get started. We’ll talk through your concerns, answer your questions, and make sure our services are a good fit for your needs.
Complete Intake & Insurance Information
Once you’re ready to move forward, we’ll send you the necessary intake paperwork. This includes your basic information, insurance details, and any required forms to begin the process. We’ll review everything with you and make sure nothing is missing.
Authorization & Scheduling
If you are using insurance or a state-funded program, we will help obtain the required authorization before services begin. Once that’s in place, we’ll schedule your evaluation or first session based on availability and your location.
Do You Need a Referral?
A referral from your physician is required before starting services if you’re using insurance or a state-funded program. If you’re unsure, don’t worry—we’ll let you know exactly what’s needed when you call.
Insurance & Payment Options
Word Play works with a variety of payment options:
- In-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield
- Out-of-network benefits accepted
- Private pay options available

DDD & ESA Programs
Word Play is a qualified provider with the Arizona Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) and an approved provider for ESA (Empowerment Scholarship Account) students.
If your family receives support through one of these programs, we can help coordinate services and guide you through the process.
